colours of india Photo Essay

When I think of India, I immediately think of orange and purple saris. It is one of those images that jumps into my head as I’m walking through London on a drab winter’s day, and wonder where the colour in our city has gone. The same goes for Indian weddings, where everybody dons their brightest outfits, and the venues are decked in, quite frequently, orange and purple.

From the naturally clear turquoise oceans of Goa and Kerala, to the brightly coloured onslaught that is an Indian market where thousands of bangles and spices are neatly lined up, just everything is vibrant.

Having returned home, I now believe the colours of India are why the country left such a strong impression on me, and rather than try and shake it off, I’ll no doubt just visit again. Albeit with a brighter wardrobe.
